Marie Valerie Peterson

Marie V. Peterson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away on October 1, 2021, in Gilbert, Arizona.She was born on March 27, 1932, to Jake and Rosemarie Sazama in Antigo, Wisconsin. Marie graduated from Langlade County Teacher's College. She was an elementary teacher for seven years, teaching in Country School in Wisconsin, and a Catholic school in Oklahoma. Marie married Gerald Peterson on February 7, 1953, in Antigo, Wisconsin. They had twenty-three years of military life together. Marie worked for the city of Colorado Springs water department as an administration secretary until retiring in 1992. Marie and Gerald became snowbirds traveling back and forth to Apache Junction in the fall to Colorado Springs in the summer. She served on the board of directors, or in capacity, for charitable community organizations including The Colorado Springs Chapter of the National Kidney Foundation, Home and Health Care Center, United Way, The Red Cross, and The Retired Enlisted Association. Marie was president of TREA Chapter One, and for two years National President. Marie loved fishing, camping, dancing, gardening, and when ever possible, going to Cripple Creek.Marie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald; her parents; and brother, Eugene.Marie is survived by her children, Terrall (Joy), Denise, Randy, Sherise, and Dean; her grandchildren, David, Steven (Rachel), Nathan, Shawn, and Skylar; her great-grandchildren, Dakota, Savannah, Tucker, Austin, Emma, and Etienne.
