Marilee Griffin
August 10th, 1939 - February 21st, 2023
Marilee Olson Griffin, age 83 of St. Paul died peacefully on February 21, 2023. Born August 10, 1939 in Ottumwa, IA, Marilee graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1957 and the University of Iowa in 1961 where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and Mortar Board. Later she received an MBA degree from the University of St. Thomas. Much of her career was spent in financial services, retiring as Vice President of Human Resources for Bremer Bank. Early in her career she was secretary to Minnesota Attorney General Douglas Head. A talented seamstress, Marilee, in younger years, sewed many of her own clothes. As longtime member of Mount Olivet Church, she took on many volunteer roles. As an active moderate Republican, she loved a good political discussion or campaign. International travel was high on her priority list. Marilee is preceded in death by her husband, Roger, and her parents Ralph and Jeanette Olson. She is survived by her sister Gayle Fleming (Dan), Stillwater, MN.; stepson Roger Mudge Griffin, Santa Catarina, Portugal; stepdaughter Susan Griffin Yonkers, Alexandria, NH; niece Courtney Schaan (Brad) and family, Stillwater, MN; nephew Christopher Fleming (Kelly) and family, Durham, NC and cousins Cathy Smith, Shawnee , KS; Judy Vehse, Newton, MA; Sharon Shew, Las Vegas, NV; Evie Uhrich, Redmond, OR, Gary Olson, Garland , TX. Funeral service 11AM Wed., March 1 at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul, 651-228-1006. Family will greet friends one hour before the service. Private family burial at Acacia Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Parkinson’s Foundation, Donor Services, 201 SE 1stStreet, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
