Martha Guthrie Chesnut
September 16th, 1937 - November 12th, 2023
Martha Guthrie Chesnut, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away in her sleep on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the age of 86. Martha was born on September 16, 1937 to Edith Fern and Harold Guthrie in Muncie, IN. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1955 and Ball State University in 1970. She married Don, the love of her life, in 1955. Don and Martha became owners of Motorcraft in 1978 and ran it until 1992 when they retired to Venice, Florida. Martha was a dedicated partner to Don in both their family and business lives. Martha loved boating, reading, ballroom dancing and visiting friends. Much of her retirement was spent with Don boating the intercoastal waterways around Venice, ballroom dancing and volunteering at the Elks Club. Martha is survived her daughters, Connie (Suzy) Maul (husband, John), Linda Chesnut and Nancy Chesnut (partner, Kevin Robinson); her grandchildren, Sally Williams (husband, Shane) and John D. Maul (wife, Roxanne); her great-grandchildren, Blaine Williams, Dylan Maul and Olivia Maul. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Don Chesnut, father, Harold Guthrie, mother, Edith Fern Guthrie, brothers Donald, Richard, Phillip and Paul Guthrie, sisters Barbara Guthrie Wash and Rebecca Guthrie Brooks. A funeral service and interment will be held at a later date at Elm Ridge Memorial Park in Muncie. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
