GASTON—Funeral service for Martha C. Sullivan, 66 of Gaston, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Gantt Street Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Gene Rowell and Pastor Shawn S. Smith. Interment will be private. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gantt Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 2121 Gantt Street, Cayce, SC 29033. Mrs. Sullivan, beloved wife of J.L. Sullivan, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012. Born in Crossett, AR, she was the daughter of the late Richard Earl Courtney and Marie Hooks Courtney. Mrs. Sullivan has been an area resident since 1966 formerly of Arkansas, she was a devoted member of Gantt Street Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She loved crocheting and was an avid collector of trinkets. She was a very giving person and her grandchildren were her life. Surviving in addition to her husband of 40 years, J.L. Sullivan of Gaston; daughter, Laurie S. Pickelsimer (Jason) of Gaston; son, Pastor Shawn S. Smith (Sandy) of DeWitt, MI; grandchildren, S. Stephen Smith, J. Brian Pickelsimer, Charis Joy Smith, Edward J. Pickelsimer; sister, Norma Jean Reeves of Winnsboro, LA. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Wayne Smith. Thanks to ALL who have helped and supported us during this time and for the graciousness and love extended by family, friends and church friends.
