July 20th, 1953 - March 6th, 2017
Services for Martin Albert Shuler, Jr., 63, of Gaston, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Fellowship Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Don Bell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Martin passed away on March 6, 2017. Born in Lexington, SC on July 20, 1953, he was the son of Cleo Goff Shuler and the late Martin "Albert" Shuler, Sr. Martin had a presence that was larger than life. He could always bring a smile to your face with his jokes and the way he loved to pick on everyone. He was a member of the Tuesday Night Church Bowling League. He was a graduate of Lexington High School and retired from Bell South. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, father and Pa-Pa. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Dinkins Shuler. Surviving in addition to his mother, Cleo Shuler of Lexington; are his daughters, Andrea (Alan) Sluder of Raleigh, NC, Amy (Erik) Conner of Raleigh, NC, Tonya Heard of West Columbia and Michelle Gray of Gaston; grandchildren, Haley Whitfield, Graham Conner, Jim Barker, III, Andrew Barker, Caleb Huggins and Kaylee Gray; great granddaughter, Reagan Barker; sister, JoAnn Williams of Lexington; mother-in-law, Betty Dinkins of West Columbia, SC; brother-in-law, J.R. (Pam) Dinkins of West Columbia; sisters-in-law, Sandra Ray of Irmo and Susan (Bobby) Hair of West Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
