March 1st, 1929 - May 13th, 2018
Marvin F. Benson, 89, of Mahtowa, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Brookestone Care Facility in Omaha, NE. He was born in Cloquet, MN to Anton & Signe Benson. Marvin attended Park Lake Grade School and graduated from Barnum High School in 1947. He served 2 years in the Army. Marvin married June Salakka in 1956. He spent his life as a dairy farmer for over 40 years in Mahtowa. Marvin and his wife, June, who passed in 2015, were life-long members of the Mahtowa community and attended both Bethel and Salem Lutheran Churches. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; wife, June; twin brother, Mervin, and brother, Alden. Marvin is survived by three daughters; Linda (Ted) Molin of Omaha, NE, Marilyn Benson of Lino Lakes, MN, and Louise (Stephen) Kendall of Las Cruces, NM; brothers, Arvid and Carl; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Marvin will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends he made through the years. Visitation will be from 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service, Saturday, May 19, 2018 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. He will be laid to rest in Atkinson Cemetery at a later date.
