Mary M. Bowman

Mary M Pierce Bowman, 74, died knowing she was loved, on January 9, 2015, after suffering from a stroke. Mary was born in Marion, Virginia on December 30, 1940 to Robert Glen and Mary Elizabeth Pierce. She had been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1980.Mary was married to Ernest Joe Bowman, Sr. on December 23, 1961 in Los Alamos, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Glen and Mary Elizabeth Pierce; and her beloved husband of 43 years, Joe.She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl and her former husband, Chad Stermitz; her son, EJ Bowman and Sue Kelleher; her daughter, Nedra and husband, Randy Kent; her granddaughters, Jennifer Harris, son Ashton Harris, and fiancé Ricky Bransford, and his daughter Ayla; as well as Samantha Stermitz; her grandsons, Wil Kent, Evan Kent, and Ryan Kent; her sister, Liz Falkenstine; her brother, Bob Pierce Jr; a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many special friends.Mary attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque New Mexico. Mary worked at School District 11 for over 20 years, in various positions. Her special contribution to help enrich children's lives was that she wrote, proposed, and was approved for a grant from the USGA to initiate a golf program at West Middle School. In addition, she also obtained funding for golf equipment for the program. Mary was the happiest on the golf course with her husband Joe, and their golfing partners, John Eglitis and Lisa Wiegers, attending book club, trivia, and karoke with her numerous friends at "The Lounge", or by catching up with her friends from the unique community of Los Alamos, New Mexico.Visitation, 2:30PM-4:30PM, Thursday, January 15, 2015, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.Funeral service, 6:00PM, Thursday, January 15, 2015, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-Stetson Hills Ward, 5485 Hopalong Trail, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The graveside service will be a family, private ceremony.
