Mary Higdon, 79, of Davenport and Lakeland, Florida passed away on April 17, 2021 at her residence. She was born on April 11, 1942 in Polk County, Florida to James Edward and Mary Jane Hancock Rutledge and was a lifelong resident of Polk County. Mary was a member of Gibsonia Baptist Church in Lakeland and a former member of First Baptist Church in Davenport, as well as being a Sunday school teacher with Loughman Baptist Church when she was younger. She loved to spend time with her family and in her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Mary is predeceased by her parents; her first husband, John David Pollock, Sr; children, Polly Ann Perri, John David Pollock, Jr; siblings, John Rutledge, James Rutledge, Rebeca Rutledge, and Abraham Rutledge. She is survived by her husband, of 9 years, John Higdon; son, Edwin Pollock and wife, Amy; daughter, Wendy S. Bralick and husband, Joe; siblings, Bobbie Jean Small, Edward Rutledge, Sue Guess, Lavond Stein, Ila Green, Ethel Ralph; 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. A visitation will be Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 10 am until the funeral at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Davenport, FL.
