Mary Rose McIntire
September 13th, 1920 - February 22nd, 2020
On Saturday, February 22, 2020, Mary Rose McIntire, loving mother of four, passed away at the age of 99. Mary was born September 13, 1920 in Portland Oregon to Guiseppi (Joseph) and Salvatora (Dorothy) Dindia from Trabia, Sicily. Her siblings, all deceased, were Tony, Joe and Sam Caruso and sister Frances Lima. She married Richard (Dick) McIntire in 1943. She attended The High School of Commerce (Cleveland H.S.) which focused on business courses at the time. Mary worked for over 20 years as an executive secretary for W.P. Hemingway Co. importers. Coming from a produce family, Caruso Produce, Mary’s passion throughout her life was cooking traditional Italian dishes for her family. In her earlier years she enjoyed ballroom dancing with the Son’s of Italy, bunko with her lady friends and making beautiful hand painted ceramics and dishware. She is survived by her four children, Susan, Larry and Jim McIntire and Nancy Traub. She will be sadly and lovingly missed by all the hearts she touched over the years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 2408 SE 16th Ave., Portland, OR. 97214. Visitation will be held at St Philip Neri Church at 2pm one hour prior to the Funeral Service. Mary will be privately laid to rest in Portland Memorial Mausoleum, 6705 SE 14th Avenue, Portland, Oregon, 97202. At Wilhelm's Portland Memorial, we have a rich history dating back to 1901 when we became the first crematory west of the Mississippi River, known then as The Portland Cremation Association. Our historic chapel, marked by its cornerstone placed on February 5th, 1901, has stood the test of time. Today, our memorial site spans 8 stories, approximately 7 miles of corridors of beautifully preserved architecture, and the largest mausoleum on the west coast, spanning 2.5 city blocks....
