Mary Lou Friese Padua, age 72, passed away in her home on November 2, 2011. She was born in Sylvania, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. B.P. Friese. Ms. Padua retired after 30 years of federal service at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC. Ms. Padua is survived by her former husband Michael H. Padua, Sr. and sons Anthony (Jan), James (Serena), Vincent (Sandra), and Christopher (Michaela) and three grandchildren, Michael III, Matthew, and Kristyna. She was predeceased by her oldest son Michael Jr. A private service was held for Ms. Padua at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
