Mary Catherine Pagnella
January 27th, 1933 - December 21st, 2012
Monterey- Mary Catherine Pagnella died quietly at home on December 21, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Red Hill, Alabama on January 27th, 1933. She met and married the love of her life, James C. (Joe) Pagnella at the young age of 16. She had her twin boys the next year while Joe was serving in the Korean War; Patrick was born six years later. She and her boys lived in many wonderful spots around the US and Germany serving with their father. They settled in Pacific Grove in 1965. Joe predeceased her in 2010. They would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary this January 7th. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. She loved Country music, Bingo with friends and an occasional trip to Nevada. She was famous for her pies, especially her Pecan Pies. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sons; Joseph (Leslie) of Pacific Grove, Jim (Linda) of Pacific Grove and Patrick (Tonya) of Castroville. She leaves five grandchildren; Jimmy (Sarah) of Monterey, Shawna (Jason) Greene of Castroville, Kathryn of Pacific Grove, Gina (Claudio Argilla) of Monterosso al Mare, Italy; and Michael of Pacific Grove. She leaves two great granddaughters and three great grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by her sister Margret Norton of Fayetteville, NC, her brother James Jones of Newnan, GA and many nieces and nephews. She leaves many good friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Glenn Hudgens and his staff for their many years of personal care. Her laugh brightened our lives. Her sense of humor never left her. Private Graveside services were held at the El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove. A celebration of Mary?s Life will be on Saturday January 5, 2013, starting at 1:00 at the Asilomar Conference Grounds, Surf & Sand room. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
