Marylin Mae Basarich Nelson)
January 27th, 1928 - February 15th, 2020
Age 92, of West St. Paul, formerly of Hibbing, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020. Marylin was born in Duluth, MN to parents Hanna and Gust Nelson. She attended Duluth Denfeld High School and the University of MN Duluth where she gained degrees in History, English, Speech and Library Science. Marylin settled in Hibbing, MN with husband, Mike where they raised their children Michele and Mark. She touched many lives as a teacher at Hibbing High School. She was a favorite among her students, remembering her for her knowledge, fairness and gregarious personality. Marylin enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She was active in many choirs both in Hibbing and the West St. Paul area. Marylin was an avid reader and engaging conversationalist and was always quick with a joke. Her acceptance of others coupled with her empathetic ear made her someone many were drawn to for guidance and support. She will be remembered for her larger than life personality. Marylin will be dearly missed by children, Michele (Mike) Haedrich and Mark (Shawn) Basarich; grandchildren, Jenny (Ryan) McGillen and Emily Haedrich, Beau Burgess and Madison Malloy; great grandchildren Brooklyn and Patrick McGillen. We would like to send our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Southview Senior Care Facility where Marylin received loving support and excellent care. A celebration of Marylin's life will be at Augustana Lutheran Church 1400 Robert Street South, West St. Paul, MN on Thursday, February 20, 2020.
