Maureen E. (Hession) Connors
March 18th, 1943 - April 25th, 2021
Maureen E. (Hession) Connors, age 78, formerly of Weymouth, MA passed peacefully on April 25, 2021 at home with family members by her side in Lady Lake, Florida. Born on March 18, 1943 in Watertown, MA, Maureen was the daughter of the late Robert and Kathryn (Halpin) Hession. Beloved wife of 60 years to William “Bill” Connors. Sister of Patricia (Hession) Gould McManus, Paul Hession, and the late Robert and Brian Hession. Maureen graduated from Watertown High School in 1960, married William Connors at the age of 17, raised six children and worked at the Colonial Nursing Home, Weymouth MA as a Nurse’s Aide for many years. Maureen lived a life of putting others first. She consistently gave of her time and talents in the most thoughtful and meaningful of ways. She was most interested in family and friends lives vs. talking about herself. Once she saw opportunities to support others, whether it be to babysit, cook, clean, knit or crochet, hats, scarfs, sweaters, mittens, doll clothing, Christmas ornaments, etc. she was all in. Sleeping was not on her to do list as she was always onto her next “labor of love” or chore. Upon her retirement to The Villages in Florida, Maureen volunteered at various charity organizations and continued to brighten other’s days with her friendship, humor, pumpkin bread, and of course her hand-made treasures. Maureen’s homes always had an open-door policy, where all were welcomed, felt safe, were fed, and felt part of the family. Her Florida home was a destination site for countless Family vacations and golf cart adventures. Maureen also traveled back North for special family gatherings in Massachusetts and Maine. Maureen loved her children unconditionally. Kathleen Madeira (and husband, Louie) of Weymouth, MA, Kevin Connors of Lady Lake FL, Brian Connors (and wife, Michelle) of Norwell, MA, Kelly Bird (and husband, James) of Sanford, FL, Bob Connors (and wife, Denise) of Hanson, MA, and Eric Connors (and wife, Carol) of Norwell, MA. Maureen was also known as “cuckoo” Nana to 13 grandchildren Kelly, Kaitlin, Alyssa, Ryan, Michaela, Hannah, Casey, Kyle, Brett, Michael, Brooke, Victoria, Alex and 7 great grandchildren Kayley, Connor, Harper, Elijah, Elliyah, Koana, and Kendall. Maureen was also blessed with many dear friends and relatives, including Elaine Gorham and Family. In lieu of flowers, to Honor Maureen Connors please sacrifice time this month to perform random acts of kindness to others. A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 72 Washington St, Weymouth, MA on Friday, April 7, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Normally, a wake is an opportunity for the community to gather in support of one another.
