Melvin Davidson, retired Certified Public Accountant, passed gently in sleep on March 9, 2016 after living with Alzheimer’s for over 2 years. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts December 23, 1926 and spent his childhood in Dedham, Massachusetts. Mel was the only child of Bernard Davidson and Naomi Glickman Davidson. After serving in the U.S. Army in World War II, he graduated from Bentley College, married, moved to Chicago Illinois working for a short time for Swift Inc., got his CPA license and opened a Certified Public Accounting firm of his own. In Colorado, Mel operated as a sole proprietor CPA; played tennis whenever possible; was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and active in Presbytery and Synod. He is survived by his wife and best friend Maryann Lutes Scanlan Davidson; his children Jody Davidson of Forest Park, Illinois; Thomas Scanlan of Denver, Colorado; Laura Scanlan Wolterstorff of Lakewood, Colorado; and two grandchildren Kayla Bridges and Connor Wolterstorff of Lakewood, Colorado; and his ex wife Dorothy Metcalfe Leone of Indian Head Park, Illinois. He was predeceased by his daughter Maureen Rose Scanlan in 1982 and his son Paul James Davidson in 2005. A loving, kind and thoughtful man, he will remain in our hearts forever.
