Michael Robert Arnold
April 19th, 1970 - February 20th, 2004
Michael Robert Arnold, 33 of Moose Lake died Friday, February 20, 2004. He was born April 19, 1970 in Duluth to Dennis and Susan (Almquist) Arnold. Michael graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1988. In high school, he played hockey and football. After high school, Michael drove truck for George Holt and Timberline Express. He was also an EMT with the Moose Lake Ambulance. Most recently he worked as a Correctional Officer for the State of Minn. Dept. of Corrections in Moose Lake. He was a member of the SORT team as an instructor and trainer. In November of 2003, Michael and his friend, Bill Fortman started the Carlton County Sanitation Company. He has been involved with the Moose Lake Area Fire Dept. for the past 15 years and was currently the Assistant Chief. Along with Jim Michalski, Michael was instrumental in obtaining two new firetrucks for the department. He loved being a father to his two children and especially enjoyed their recent trip to the Black Hills this past summer. He always enjoyed his Fall Wyoming deer hunting trips with his father and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bertil and Evelyn Almquist; uncle, Dennis Almquist; and paternal great grandmother, Ruth Wills. He is survived by his children, Alivia and Ross Arnold of Cromwell; their mother, Mary Jo; his parents, Dennis and Susan Arnold of Moose Lake; sister, Shelly Arnold of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; his paternal grandmother, Alta Rogers of Barnum; many aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 in Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Moose Lake. The Moose Lake Firemen served as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Services entrusted to Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet.
