Michael Eli Gomez, or "Bronco Mike" as he was well known, passed away on Saturday, June 27, in Denver, CO. Mike was born Thursday, February 16, 1984 to the union of Mr. Joseph Ernest Gomez Jr. and Loretta Jean (Arellano) Gomez. Mike was preceded in death in the following order: His Lord & Savior Jesus Christ Who is Risen; His Paternal Grandmother Rose Gomez (1971); His Maternal Grandfather Eufelio Arellano (1986); His Maternal Uncle Jimmy Arellano (1987); His Maternal Grandmother Theresa Arellano (1999); His nephew Phillip Gomez (1999); His nephew Onesimus Gomez (2003); His Paternal Grandfather Joseph E. Gomez Sr. (2009); His Maternal Uncle Ronald Arellano (2011); His Maternal Aunt Pamela Arellano (2013) His Paternal Aunt Rosalie Gomez-Martinez (2014). Mike was succeeded in death on June 29, 2015 by his oldest Paternal UncleAnthony R. "Tony" Gomez. Mike is survived by many grieving and heartbroken family and friends: Parents Joseph E. Jr. and Loretta J. (Arellano) Gomez; His Oldest Brother and his family, Joseph E. Gomez III, wife Stephanie (Rivera) Gomez, Nephews Joseph (Joey) IV, Jacob, Paul, Silas and Timothy and only niece Alyssa Gomez, and Mike's older brother Gregory "Greg" I. Gomez. His surviving Uncles and Aunts in order of birth: His Uncle Andrew ("Andy") and his wife Josie Gomez; His Aunt Mary-Ann (Gomez) and Wayne Sproule; Norbert (Nobie) and Nancy Gomez; Frank ("Chicky") and Sandra Gomez Jacqueline ("Jackie") Gomez and companion Jim. His surviving cousins: Corey, Derek, Rose, Shelly, Chicky Lee, Angel, Dora, Toni, Andrew, Rebecca, Jamie, Bree their children. Finally he is survived by his adoptive family in Patagonia, AZ, Elvia Miranda and her husband, who took him in while he taught there, and all his beloved students and friends. Mike graduated as Valedictorian of the North High School class of 2002. He held a Bachelor's Degree of Music, Jazz and Commercial Music Performance from the University of Denver (2006), a Master of Education, Secondary Education from the University of Arizona (2011), and was fully certified to teach K-12 by the Colorado Board of Education. Mike was a Member of the Colorado Music Educators Association. Mike worked as a K-12 Music Teacher in the Patagonia Public School system I n Patagonia, AZ from 2008-2011 where he also coached Middle School Flag Football and Basketball. He taught in the Genoa-Hugo School District C-113 from 2012-2015. He was an accomplished saxophonist, Staff Writer and Editor for the Mile High Report. Mike became a believer in Jesus Christ in his early 20's and attended Word of Life Christian Center until he went to Patagonia. For the last two years of his life, Mike was a beloved member of his Brother Joe's church, Mile High Bible Institute / SO LOVED Fellowship. Mike's viewing will be from 10:00-11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Thrive Church. Services and Celebration of Life officiated by Pastor Joe Gomez from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM also at Thrive, with Burial immediately following at Littleton Cemetery. Mike is and will always be sadly missed!
