Meldrum Mortuary & Crematory
Michael Dean Heisler
August 21st, 1948 - August 8th, 2019
Michael Dean Heisler, 70, of Queen Creek, Arizona passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2019 after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis and dysphagia for several years. He was born August 21, 1948 in Hillsboro, OR and was a third generation Oregonian. Mike grew up in Forest Grove, Oregon and graduated from Forest Grove High School, attended college at Portland State, then served in the Army for four years during the Vietnam Era. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Architecture. He was the first in his immediate family to graduate from college. Mike moved to Las Vegas, NV, worked for thirty years at several architectural firms and the MGM Grand, and retired to Queen Creek to be near family. He was a member of both the national and local AIA organizations in Las Vegas. Mike was always the quiet, behind-the-scenes architect who translated others' vision to reality on AutoCad. He loved and supported college sports, particularly teams from Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. In addition to drawing commercial and residential properties, Mike loved landscaping and created beautiful planters, even in the rather sterile Las Vegas soil. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Dean Heisler, and his younger brother, Steven. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Linda Skroback-Heisler, of Queen Creek, son James of Portland, OR, and step-daughter Deborah Duke (Jim) of Queen Creek and two grandchildren, Delaney and Jason. He is also survived by his brother Dan (Carol) of New Mexico. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Meldrum Mortuary. Services will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 11:20 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
