Michael "Brent" Holtcamp

Michael "Brent" Holtcamp (73) went home to rejoice in Heaven on July 5, 2023, after a 17 year battle with cancer. He remained brave and strong through years of chemo and treatments and continued encouraging and pouring the love of Christ into his family, friends and students at Evangel Christian Academy, where he taught for over 35 years. Brent was born in La Junta, CO, on March 2, 1950, to Clem and Edith Holtcamp who preceded him in death. The family moved to Denver where his only sibbling, Kent, was born. Brent attended Lincoln High School, where he learned the art of jewelry making, which became an important part of his career. He also learned to play the string bass in high school, which was a source of enjoyment all his life. He played in a jazz band, in the Colorado Springs Symphony and at church. He earned a degree in music from Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo where he met his wife, Louise. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1974 to both pursue teaching careers. Brent is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise; daughter, Britta Hoffman (Chris) with granddaughter, Evelyn Mae (20 months); son, Jorgan Holtcamp (Jessica) with granddaughters, Jolie(l0), Jaycie(6) and Jade (3). He is also survived by his brother, Kent (Sandra), and nieces Jennifer, Trisha, Kendra and McKenna and a very special cousin, Rich Light (Nancy) and family. Brent had a very special knack for making a yard beautiful and would spend his summers immersed in landscaping and gardening projects. He also had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing which he passed on to his son. But, Brent's main mission was his work at Evangel Christian Academy( ECA). There he dedicated himself to teaching, mentoring, counseling and encouraging both students and fellow staff. Brent liked to provide what anyone needed so consequently he had back-ups for his back-ups and would most likely have any item on hand at a moments notice. He will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of life memorial service is planned for August 28, 2023 at 3:00 P. M. at Village Seven Presbyterian Church, 4055 Nonchalant Circle S. Colorado Springs, CO 80917 If you plan to attend please wear your favorite color to celebrate Brent's lifetime of art education. Memorial gifts may be made to ECA designated for the Art Department in honor of Brent's life.
