Michael Harvey Meredith

OCOEE - Michael Harvey Meredith, 65, of Ocoee died Saturday, January 17, 2015 in The Villages. He was born April 4, 1949 in Haines City, Florida, to Clyde and Wilma (Harvey) Meredith. Mr. Meredith retired as an Assistant Manager from Publix. He also served very proudly in the United States Marines in Vietnam for two years, where he received the highly coveted Navy Commendation Medal for unusual bravery in fire action with a North Vietnamese Army Unit. At the same time he received the Navy Achievement Medal for exceptional service throughout his time in Vietnam. Prior to this he had received the Vietnamese Campaign Ribbon, The Vietnamese Service Ribbon and the Navy Combat Action Ribbon. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Terry Meredith and is survived by his son Michael Theron Meredith of Jacksonville; brother Patrick Meredith of Ocoee; and grandchildren Madison Meredith and Michael Theron Meredith, Jr. Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 10-11 AM with services to follow at 11 AM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care Haines City with Pastor Charles Harkala, Good Shepherd Hospice Chaplain, officiating.
