Mildred Ann (Marsh) Brooks Mildred lived a life devoted to God, her family, and her friends. On Thursday January 27th, 2022 at 3:25pm her faith was made sight. The gates of Heaven opened and she was ushered in and reunited with her husband Tom, her parents and family that had gone on before her. Born June 1st ,1929 to Osby Edgar Marsh Sr. & Mary Creasy Marsh. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Brooks, her parents and her brothers, O. Ed Marsh Jr., Daniel Wyatt Marsh. She was a graduate of Brookville High School. In her earlier years Mildred worked as a beautician at Ralph’s on Main St. She continued her work in her home over the years cutting, dying, perming, and styling the hair of family and friends. When she married Tom, she began her lifelong career as a homemaker and caregiver helping Tom with his various businesses over the life of their marriage. Mildred was a member of First Baptist Church Lynchburg where she served the Lord and the members in countless ways for many years. She used her God given talent to sing both solo and with the choir. God blessed her with the unusual ability to sing all four parts soprano, baritone, alto and bass. For more than 35 years she sang in the Lynchburg Chapter of the Sweet Adelines. She had a beautiful voice and it was a blessing to hear her sing. Mildred loved her mother with all her heart and made sure she didn’t have to live her remaining years in a nursing home. After the passing of her father (1995), Mildred became the sole caregiver for her mother Mary until she passed in 2016 at the age of 110. What an honor it was for her as she served her mother through caring for her. She always viewed it as a labor of love never complaining. Mildred is survived by her children, Kay Mitchell (Butch), Kathy Tolley (David), Karen Waters (Dwayne), Kevin Brooks, (Shirley), her sister-in-law Darlene Marsh as well as 5 grandchildren Michael Tolley (Kemmy), David Tolley (April), Thomas Tolley (Denise), Stephen McBride, Justin Brooks (Savannah), 2 step grandchildren Amanda Waters, Nick Waters, 8 great grandchildren Erin Crawley (Greg), Zach Tolley, Logan Tolley, Chandler Tolley (Brianna), Grayson Tolley, Gabe Tolley, Ryleigh Tolley, Ronan Brooks and 2 great-great grandchildren Kyndal Crawley and Paityn Crawley.
