Millard L. Mayhall
July 9th, 1922 - August 11th, 2007
Millard Mayhall passed away surrounded by family members on August 11, 2007 at his home in Venice, Florida. Millard, or Bill, was born in Portland, Oregon on July 9, 1922 and grew up in Oregon until his family moved to Omaha, Nebraska as a teenager. He served in the Army in World War II, and landed in Normandy on Omaha Beach on D-day and then marched across Europe with the 5th Infantry into Germany. After the war, he attended the University of Iowa where he met his wife Anne McCarthy. He received a BS Degree in Commerce and later passed the CPA examination. Living in the Midwest, Bill married Anne and started a family of three boys. He pursued a career in accounting and finance with several industrial companies and worked his way to become Vice President and Controller at Clark Equipment Company based in Michigan. Bill retired in 1982 and moved to Venice, Florida where he stayed active and involved in volunteer projects with the Senior Corp of Executives, serving on project assignments in Botswana, Ghana and Jordan. While in Venice he was a driver for Meals on Wheels for eighteen years and volunteered tax help to the local AARP groups. He is survived by his wife Anne and his three sons; Steven Mayhall or Stowe, Vermont, Bill Mayhall of Marshall Michigan, Tom Mayhall of Lansing, Michigan and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on August 14, 2007 at 11 am at the Farley Funeral Home, 265 at South Nokomis Avenue, Venice, Florida.
