Moyer William Smith, Jr.

Moyer William Smith Jr., Born January 14th, 1939 passed away peacefully at Rockledge Regional Hospital on Sunday June 9th.  Moyer was born in St. Albans West Virginia to Moyer Smith Sr. and Olga (Neil) Smith.   He was a graduate of St. Albans High School and graduated as an Industrial Engineer from West Virginia University.He met his wife Joan Adele Rutherford at Weirton Steel in West Virginia in 1961 immediately after graduating from college.   They were married in Fairmont, West Virginia in 1962 and then moved to Wooster, Ohio when he was hired at Rubbermaid Inc that same year.   He rose quickly as an executive there and became Vice President and General manager in his mid 30's.   The company moved the family to LaGrange GA in 1976 to run the company automotive division.   Through the years he was very successful investing in the stock market and set a goal to retire before he was 40.   He retired at 39 years old and moved the family to Port St. John, Florida where he lived for 46 years.  During that time he fished and traveled the country with Joan researching genealogy.He is survived by his wife Joan (Rutherford), daughter Kimberly, son Moyer III, his brother Robert ( Fredrick MD) , three grandchildren (Nicholas, Victoria and Sabrina) and a granddog (Sumo).A memorial service of immediate family will be held at a later date to carry out his wishes to scatter his ashes over the St. John's River.Memorials may be given to Hospice of St. Francis.
