On October 30th, 2016 Harry Alan Moore was welcomed with a great celebration as he entered into the doorway of his eternal home. Harry was born in Ainsworth, Nebraska (Brown County) on March 30, 1938, to Shelley T. Moore and Minnie M. West Moore. He was their 8th child, second son. The family consisted of Lois, Ila, Alice, Lynn, Carol and Ardith. Ila, Alice and Lynn preceded Harry in death. Raised on a family ranch in Long Pine, Nebraska, his sisters spoiled him while he was tolerated by his big brother. He learned to mail cows, feed cattle, bale hay, collect eggs, garden, Hunt deer and wild turkeys. Also, he thought of himself as a real cowboy and used his horse in many ranching ways, especially when it came to pulling a large buck across the field, through the trees and into the Long Pine Creek. His pop called Harry his "man child". Harry and his family were members of the Long Pine Methodist church. He remembered fondly the many summer camps at Camp Witness outside of town. He attended and graduated from Long Pine high school. One favorite activity was rollerskating at a nearby rink and playing basketball. In between times, he would study and do his homework - maybe. After graduating High School, Harry at several of his classmates join the US Air Force. He traveled to parks AFB, California for basic training. On a weekend pass , he went to Santa Cruz, CA for sightseeing. On the Boardwalk, he met a 15 year- old gal on a weekend holiday with her family, who would later become his wife. Harry was stationed in Korea , Japan , Crete, Germany , Okinawa and Turkey. Stateside duty was in California, Montana and Colorado. Harry first served as a military policeman, then was selected for the Air Force Office of Special Investigation as a special agent. He loved the USAF so much that it was a factor in grandson Josh Starr to be Commissioned in 2013. Harry married LaWanda White in 1959, three years after meeting her on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. They had two sons, Michael and Gary, while stationed at Hamilton AFB, CA. Michael ( Peggy ) has three children: Josh Nettles (Judy) , Walter Nettles and Nick Moore. Gary (Diana) has seven children: Andrew Starr, Ashlee ( Preston) Smits, Emmalee (Jay) Teribery, Brandon Starr, Dominic Starr, Kaylee ( Jesus ) Salazar and Joshua ( Candice) Starr. Two Great-granddaughters complete the family: Brooklyn Nettles and Maisie Smith. His family meant everything to him. I think he also meant everything o his family. After retiring from the Air Force, Harry briefly worked for Adams County as a welfare fraud investigator. Then went to work for Safeway Stores, Inc as an investigator. He enjoyed working for Safeway for 23 years. When he left Safeway, he started his own lock business, Camlocke. When it was apparent that Harry couldn't work anymore, he was happy to turn that business over to his son, Michael. Harry had a great life and enjoyed his family and friends. He would be honored by your presence here today, sharing your memories of him. Previous Events Visitation & Viewing NOV 11. 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (MT) Romero Funeral Home - Aurora 15150 E.
