In Loving Memory
Nell Alice Coffey, 76, of Columbia passed away peacefully at her home on July 20,2024 surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Paul Thomas Coffey.
After the death of her husband she met the second love of her life, Earl Stroupe. They traveled to all the places she wanted to see and enjoyed their time together. She lost him in 2019 after eight happy years.
She was a native of Columbia and preceded in death by her parents John and Alice Hayes and siblings Sally Bouknight, Lillian Logan, Elizabeth Hayes, Geraldine Maxwell, Johnnie Dillon and JT Hayes. She was the last surviving child of seven. She was a very strong woman that would help anyone that she could.
She was a seamstress for 25+ years with the majority of that time at Columbia Tent and Awning. She then worked for Hallmark Cards as an Installation Team Leader for 15 years.
She was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly Church in Lexington. She had many brothers and sisters in Christ there that she loved and adored.
She was a devoted Mom, Aunt, Grannie and friend. She is survived by her children, Thomas "T-Man" (Sherri) Coffey of Columbia, SC and JoAnne (John) McConnell of Johnson City, TN. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren that were her world. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she adored.
She says that her "only goal in life is to make my kids proud of me". That goal was met.
