Nell passed away on October 28, 2023 at the age of 83. She was born in Swainsboro, Georgia, on December 26, 1939. Nell was a kind and gentle sweetheart that loved everyone. She never met a stranger. She was our social butterfly. She was a Christian lady who loved the Lord. She loved attending Sunday School and Church as well as volunteering to help in any way that she could. Give her a Little Debbie cosmic brownie, a Chic Fil-a sandwich, or a Sonic hot dog with mustard and ketchup only, accompanied with a Diet Coke and she would be your best friend forever. Ask her where she wanted to go for vacation and she would tell you the beach or to visit family in Charleston and or Georgia. She was known to many as “Mama Nell” and as a running joke, she earned the title of “Sheriff of Woodfield Park” by a very special friend. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Doug) of Lugoff, SC and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Blancit W. (Red) Griffin, Jr.; father, Clarence E. Scarboro; mother, Ella Lee Perkins Scarboro; brother, Clyde Scarboro; and sister, Marilyn Scarboro Jones.

Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
