Nick Pugliese, age 81, of Venice, died on October 13, 2006. He was born in Naples, Italy on October 3, 1925, and came to the United States in 1954 from Italy. He moved from Brooklyn to New Mexico in 1982, then to Florida in 1997. Mr. Pugliese was a member of the Merchant Marines in Italy. He was a longshoreman with Universal Stevedores in New York until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the International Longshoreman Association Local #1814. In Venice, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Senior Friendship Center. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, and cooking, and had previously owned restaurants. Surviving family members include his sons Salvatore and wife Barbara of Brooklyn, NY, and George of Huntington, NY; daughters Susan Pecora of Venice, FL, and Maria Pugliese of Sarasota, FL; four grand-daughters, Emma Lisa and Nicole of Brooklyn, Kristen of Huntington and Gianna of Venice; three grand-sons, Michael of Huntington, Thomas and Nicholas of Venice; two great grand-daughters, Amber and Haley of Brooklyn.
