View Slide Show Niilo Emil Suhonen, 86 of Wright, died Saturday, December 10, 2005 in Villa Vista Care Center in Cromwell. He was born February 4, 1919 in Tamarack to Hjalmer and Mary (Walli) Suhonen. He attended Lakeside School. Niilo was an Army Veteran serving his country during WWII. After returning from the war, Niilo went to work at Potlatch in Cloquet where he worked for 36 years, retiring in 1981. He married Vera Bogenholm on January 4, 1949 in Floodwood. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright and the Potlatch Quarter Century Club. Niilo enjoyed hunting, farming, sports, visiting with friends, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Waino, Arve, and Toivo; and sisters, Aili Suhonen and Helen Malisko. Niilo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Vera; sons, Doug (Bonnie), Roger (Kim) and Jeff (Theresa) all of Wright, and Robert (Ulla) of Vienna, Austria; daughters, Joyce Suhonen of Texas, Mary (Sherman) Erickson of Blaine, Peggy (Larry) Dahl and Sharon (Jim) Lisson both of Cloquet, and Cindy (John) Woodward of Inver Grove Heights; sisters, Laimi Linden of Duluth and Saimi Dingman of Coquille, Oregon; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held onFriday, December 16, 2005 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery in Lakeview Township. Military Honors were accorded by the Carlton VFW Honor Guard. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet. View Slide Show
