Norbert "Jim" James Sander, Jr.
June 5th, 1943 - February 24th, 2015
Jim Sander, age 71, died unexpectedly on February 24, 2015 in Colorado Springs as the result of an apparent heart attack. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and local businessman.Norbert James Sander, Jr. was born on June 5, 1943 in Hays, Kansas to Norbert and Barbara (Urban) Sander, Sr. He was a1961 graduate of Garden City High School in Garden City, Kansas. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1962-1963. He attended Junior College in Garden City and then graduated from the University of Kansas. He married Rose Pauline Baier on June 10, 1967 in Garden City. Jim later received his Masters in Finance from UCCS.Jim had many interesting careers. He was Vice President of Skiland Corporation and was later CFO of Eisenhower Hospital in Colorado Springs. He was then the Chief Financial Officer for the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a bowling proprietor and owned and operated the Ute Lanes Bowling Center with Rose on the west side for 16 years.He was a former CPA who was a trusted tax adviser and had his own Liberty Tax Service Franchise. He had a real estate brokers license and was a member of the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors. Currently they owns and maintains commercial office buildings with their Command Real Estate Corporation.He very much enjoyed boating, golfing, bowling and times at the beach. He loved to travel and was planning another trip to Hawaii where he visited frequently. He was a member of the St. Patrick Parish in Colorado Springs and the Bowling Proprietors Association of America. He will be best remembered for this devotion to his family and his beloved wife, Rose.He is survived by his wife, Rose; his sons: Christopher J. (and Caprice) Sander of Falcon, Colorado and Dr. Alan W. (and Tracie J.) Sander of Grand Junction, Colorado. He has three sisters: Marlene (and Frank) VanLaeys of Weskan, Kansas, Joan Hale of Brenhan, Texas and Susan (and Greg) Ayers of Garden City, Kansas. He has six wonderful grandchildren: Kailina, Sabrena, Caitlin, Ryan, Josiah and Jeremiah.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother in law: Darrell Hale.A visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Sunday at The Springs Funeral Services Chapel, 3115 E. Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs. A Rosary will be said at 5pm in the Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 11am on Monday, March 2, 2015 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918. Friends may come to visit one hour prior to the service in the Mary Fitzpatrick Room of St. Patrick's Church. A luncheon will be provided after Mass. Private committal services will take place on Wednesday at Mt.
