WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Norma Callaway, 85, of West Columbia, will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Edwards. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elizabeth Sessions Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends at Ms. Callaway's home, from 2-4 p.m. and at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Baptist Church, 308 E. Main Street, Lexington, SC or The American Heart Association of Columbia, 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Ste. 301, Cayce, SC 29033. Ms. Callaway passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Grace Callaway. Norma graduated from Columbia High School and was employed for 18 ½ years at General Adjustment Bureau, Inc. in Columbia and 31 ½ years at South Carolina State Hospital Chaplaincy in Columbia. She retired December 31, 1993 and has been doing secretarial volunteer work at Volunteer Services, Bryan Psychiatric Hospital since July 1994. Previous and during working time, she did volunteer work at Richland Memorial Hospital in the evening. Norma will be remembered for her piano playing since age 14. She played at Colonial Heights Baptist Church and for Sessions Sunday School Class at Lexington Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends, her church family and loved working in her flower garden. Surviving are her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Gretchen Callaway Henson, Le-Merle Callaway Kendrick Clinkscales and Thelma Callaway Steele Chavis and her loving parents.
