LEXINGTON—Funeral services for Novelle Rish Barnes, 59, of Lexington will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Walker will officiate. Burial will follow in Lybrand Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to ASPCA, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209 or PETS, Inc., PO Box 6394, West Columbia, SC 29171. Mrs. Barnes, beloved wife of Steven Barnes, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013. Born in Richland County, she was a daughter of Edith Williams Rish and the late Harold Rish. She was a lifetime area resident and Manager of Rish Flower Shop. She was a member of SC Florist Association & Midlands Florist Association. She was an RN working at local hospitals for 20 years and a member of SC Nurses Association. She was an avid cat lover. She loved her family and grandkids, keeping her grandkids brought her great joy. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving in addition to her husband, Steven Barnes; daughters, Michelle Oxley (Tim) and Becky Broome (Travis); son, Steven Barnes, Jr. (Jennifer); grandchildren, Timothy, Celeste, Cameron, Jacob, Camie and Branson; sister, Clarice Richards (Don); brothers, Rex Rish (Sylvia) and DeFoix Rish (Laurie) along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her cat, "Shadow".
