WEST COLUMBIA—A graveside service for Ola Mae Payne Gaston, 86, of West Columbia, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made in her honor to Northside Baptist Church, 1339 Leaphart Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Gaston, beloved wife of the late Ira Calton Gaston, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012. Born in Laurens County, GA, she was the daughter of the late John Lamar Payne and Nellie Grey Payne. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a respected friend. Surviving are her daughters, Jean Gloria Hendrix (Buzzie) of West Columbia, Iris Carol Gaston of Bath, Ann Holly G. Kyzer (Charles) and Paula Gaston Oxner (Ronald) all of Lexington and Angela LaNell Gaston of North Augusta; sons, Burnett Henderson Gaston of Swansea and Johnny Calton Gaston of Gilbert; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Gurganious (Arleen) of Whiteburg, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and a grandchild, Calton Corbett.
