Olin L. Hallman, 80, of West Columbia, South Carolina passed away peacefully at home April 15, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born in West Columbia, to Julian and Annie Chavis Hallman. Predeceased in death, by his wife, Edna Player Hallman, they made their home in Springdale, South Carolina in the early 1960's. He was a loving father who was deeply devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He spent a lifetime helping others and making a difference in their lives by giving unconditionally of himself to everyone who knew him. Together with his wife, he taught his children to love and respect one another. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. In the early 1960's he became the owner of Hallman's Esso Service Center located in Triangle City, West Columbia. He later began a loyal and dedicated career with Standard Trucking which lasted 30 years until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of West Side Baptist Church in West Columbia. He was a 1954 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School. An avid USC fan, he loved to watch his Gamecocks compete in all sports. He is survived by his daughters, Debbie H. Owens (Buddy), Ms. Wanda H. Shull; and son, Steve O. Hallman (Donna); sister, Valma Brinkley; brother, Harold Hallman (Patricia). Grandchildren, Jennifer B. Taber (Seth), Amanda Pierce, Wesley Shull, Katie Hallman, Ryan Shull, and Coltin Hallman. Great grandchildren, Caitlin Pierce, Jayden Taber and Ethan Taber. He was also preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Calhoun County Convalescent Center, 601 Dantzler Street, St. Matthews, SC 29135. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Green Hill Baptist Church in West Columbia. Interment will be in Southland Memorial Gardens.
