WEST COLUMBIA—A graveside service for Ottie Bishop, 96, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Southland Memorial Garden, 700 W. Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. Reverend Donald Bishop, her son will officiate. Friends may view at their convenience from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Ottie Bishop was married to the late Leroy Bishop on September 1, 1935 in Hampton, SC they were married for fifty-five years and were residents of Lexington County since 1954. Mrs. Bishop passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, born on August 30, 1917 in Hampton, SC. She was the daughter of the late Perry Priester and Bertha Pulaska Priester. Ottie and Leroy were members of Northside Baptist Church where they enjoyed the fellowship of many friends. She was a member of the XYZ Club at the church. They also enjoyed camping and fishing around the state of South Carolina. Surviving Ottie Priester Bishop, her son, Reverend Donald L. Bishop (Dale) of Lexington; grandchildren, Kim Seegars (Rickie) of Kershaw, Mark Smith (Dana) of Springdale, Lisa Bishop Gibson of Lexington, Chris Bishop (Donda) of Inman; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Smith, Dylan Smith, Wade Seegars, Makayla Gibson and Ashlin Gibson. She was predeceased by her daughter, Laura Bishop Smith on March 8, 2012 at the age of 65. She was married to Hoyte R. Smith of Springdale; brother, Clyde Priester of Beaufort. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 4347 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, SC 29072 or Agape Hospice House, 141 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.
