Patricia (Kiernan) Adamowicz, (Grandma Pat) age 83, of North Port, Florida and formerly of Meriden, Connecticut, passed away on December 14, 2012 after a brief illness at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 21, 1929 in Hartford, Connecticut. Patricia moved to North Port in 1984 from Meriden, Connecticut. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice. Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Joseph Adamowicz (Poppy Joe). She is also survived by her beloved daughter and three sons. Daughter Beverly (Adamowicz) Pentzak and children Nicholas Jr., Amanda, Joseph and Alaina and predeceased by son-in-law Nicholas Pentzak of North Port; son John and children Emily and Evan and their mother Kim; son Mark and children Stephanie and Sarah and predeceased by daughter-in-law Betty Adamowicz and son Richard and wife Jacqueline and children Brendan, his wife Martha-Anne and their son Declan, and Justin and his wife Laura and their daughter Gabrielle, ââ‚"" all of Meriden. Patricia adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Brothers Francis and David Kiernan also predecease Patricia. Her past times included crossword puzzles, reading of paperback novels, avid bingo player, enjoyed her many trips to the Casinos. For many years she worked at the Memorial Hospital of Meriden. Grandma Pat was also famous for her macaroni and cheese. A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 10:30 am. A memorial service in Meriden will be held at a later date. Farley Funeral Home in North Port is handling the arrangements.
