Funeral service for Patricia A Bales, 78, will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held following the service. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mrs. Bales passed away May 3, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 13, 1937 in Muncie, Indiana to the late James and Mary Clark Griffey. Patricia graduated from Ball State University. She taught special needs children in private and public schools. Patricia learned to roller skate at an early age. She loved to bowl, play scrabble and spending time with her family. Her hobbies were writing poems and drawing house plans. She was a very kind and generous person. Patricia is survived by a brother, David "Mike" Griffey of Muncie, IN; children, Mitchell Bales and former wife Judy Riddle, Sheryl Kelley (Jim), and Jama Coburn; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Kelley, Sherilyn Kelley (Brandon Raper), James Kelley, Jonathan Coburn (Sandy Spieth), Jasun Coburn (Mallory Bundrick), Matthew Bales and former wife Heather Bales, Michael Bales-Branning (Greg Branning), and David Minnick of Muncie, IN; great grandchildren, Dominic Kelley, Jalynn Raper, Nya &Jada Buxton, Tailor Hashash of South Carolina and Gabriel, Kyler & Lilly Bales of Muncie, IN. She was also survived by brother-in-law Michael B. Bales (Hazel) nieces, Tammy Griffey, Debbie Griffey Parsons (Arlie), Michaela Bales and grand neice, Amanda Parsons of Muncie, IN. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by Ex husband Jack Bales and sister-in-law Alta Griffey.
