Paul A. Lenz, age 86, of Venice, Florida, passed away on January 22, 2010. He was born on December 6, 1923 in Houghton, Michigan. He was a Professional Civil Engineer in Alton, Illinois and served as Alton Mayor for 16 years. He moved to Venice in 1988, worked for the city of North Port for five years, served as the North Port City Manager for one year and retired in 1995. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree in Venice and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he also served during Mass. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, JoAnne of Venice; children, Jennifer Thominet of Barrington, Illinois, Matthew Lenz of Orlando, Florida, Jeffrey Lenz of Stuart, Florida, Loretta Kruzan of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Carolyn Tucker of Henley, Missouri, Barbara Austin of Lovettsville, Virginia, Roger Lenz of Fresno, California, Lawrence Lenz of Englewood, Tennessee; a brother, Frank Lenz of Green Valley, Arizona; twenty-five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen in 1988. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes. Burial will be held later at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton, Illinois. Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida is handling the arrangements.
