Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Pauline M. Denaro
March 31st, 1930 - April 10th, 2019
Pauline was born on March 31, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to first generation immigrant parents Frances (Virga) and Thomas Alastra from Sicily. Her first language was Italian with a Sicilian dialect. She had one sister Jacqueline Alastra (Tonks). Pauline lived in Detroit for most of her youth and graduated in 1948 from Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School. She did clerical work for First Mortgage Corporation until meeting Vincent (Jim) Denaro in 1952, marrying him on June 13, 1953. They lived with Jim's father and sister in Detroit when their first son Michael was born in 1954, followed by their daughter Angela in 1958. Pauline and Jim eventually built a home in Warren where they had 2 more children, Frances in 1963 and Thomas in 1968, thus completing their family. Pauline worked as a homemaker until Tommy was in school and then began to work part time at a banking institution doing clerical work. While living in Warren, Pauline's sister, first cousins and friends established the ""card club"" in 1974. This was a monthly gathering of about 8-10 ladies that would meet at one another's homes to ""play cards"" however, it was not about the card games at all. This was an opportunity to connect and share life's adventures with one another. Pauline loved and treasured each and every member of the club and it continued for decades. In 1979, Pauline and Jim built another home in Sterling Heights when she started a full time job at the new Saturn Corporation. She was the very first ""voice of Saturn"" working as their receptionist. It was during that time that she and Jim began traveling, now that the children were grown. They went to Las Vegas regularly as well as cruising the Caribbean, California and Florida. They eventually decided to buy a condominium in Florida where they lived half of the year to escape the Michigan winters. In Jim's retirement in 1986, they decided to make Florida their permanent residence and never looked back. Pauline always referred to Florida as ""just another day in paradise"". After settling in Florida, Pauline decided to return to work part time as a Walmart greeter. This job perfectly fit her outgoing personality and she loved it. In her spare time she also joined a bowling league and did some light golfing, but her favorite pastime was Bingo and she played as often as she could. Pauline and Jim were married for 64 years before his passing in March 2018. Together they loved to dance and she told everyone she met about her ""2 boys and 2 girls"". She was a very outgoing, loud and gregarious person who, in one form or another made an indelible impression on everyone she met. Pauline is survived by her 4 children: Michael, Angela Dysarczyk (David), Frances Ziraldo (Jim), and Thomas. She was known as Nona to her 5 grandchildren: Melissa West (Matt), Sarah Dysarczyk, Christina Patras (Ray), Jesse Pifko and Stevie Pifko. She also had 3 great grandchildren: Brody and Brielle West, and Giselle Patras. Pauline was one of a kind lady and will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
