Pearl Sadler

Pearl Sadler, 94, departed this world at sunrise on June 9, 2016. Pearl always loved rising early to watch the sun come up over Lake Michigan, reading her morning devotions and plotting the day over a cup of coffee. Born on November 18, 1921 to Jan and Josena Van Der Puy, she was the fifth of 10 children. In 2011 she moved to Littleton, CO and resided at Orchard Park Health Care Center at the time of her death. Pearl graduated from North High School in 1938 and then attended Sheboygan Business College. She married Leslie Sadler on June 15, 1949. They met on a blind date arranged by her sister Betty Brasser in Pella, IA where he was a photographer for the Pella Chronicle, a family business. They made their home in Sheboygan, WI after Les graduated from Central College. Pearl worked at various office/clerk positions for: Paper Box & Specialty, Public Letter Bureau, Civil Service, Milwaukee Cheese Company, Mayo Clinic, Sheboygan Water Dept. and Public Works Dept. She was also a representative of Merry Madison Floral Arrangements. She devoted much of her ‘spare’ time to activities at First Christian Reformed Church with leadership roles in VBS, Calvinettes, Friendship Club, Ruth and Lois Mission Societies, as well as the Ladies, Radio and Deo Gloria choirs. In addition, she was a volunteer for the Rehab Center of Sheboygan’s many theatrical productions. Her interests included anything pertaining to nature, bird watching, gardening, painting, woodworking, playing piano, singing, sewing, and writing. She shared these talents with everyone she met, teaching them to enjoy all that life has to offer. She is preceded in death by her 8 of her siblings (Abraham, Jennie, Pearl, Leona, Marion, Weber, Betty, and Cornelius), her husband, Leslie W. Sadler (d.1995) and a daughter, Betty Jean, (d.2016). She leaves behind one brother, Richard (Suzanne) Van Der Puy, and two sister-in-laws: Joyce Van Der Puy and Margaret Van Der Puy, as well as many nieces and nephews who remember her fondly. Survivors are Richard (Susan) Sadler of Lone Rock and their children: Rebecca Sadler (Madison) and Paul Sadler (Chicago); Janice (John) Wiskamp of Littleton, CO and their children: Jake (Holly) Wiskamp (St. Louis), John (Denver), and Josie (Denver).
