Petra G. Garcia, 95, of Haines City, FL, went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2024. She was born on August 1, 1929, in Texas to Rosendo Gonzalez and Cecilia Santa Maria Del Rio. Petra was a devoted stay-at-home mother and wife, known for her deep faith and dedication to her family. She was a loving and faithful wife to her late husband, Pedro H. Garcia, and an active member of Winter Haven Baptist Church in Winter Haven, FL. 

Petra found great joy in reading the Bible, praying, and serving her church community. She was also an excellent cook, especially known for making tortillas, and enjoyed all kinds of needlework, including crocheting and embroidering. Her hobbies extended to gardening, collecting seashells, and bird watching. Petra loved hosting family gatherings and cherished staying connected with her loved ones. She was known for her infectious laughter, fun-loving spirit, and the deep affection she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Petra is preceded in death by her parents, Rosendo and Cecilia; her beloved husband, Pedro H. Garcia; her son, Abel Garcia; her daughters, Sarah Garcia, Rachel Whetstone; her brothers, Jessie Gonzalez and Joe Gonzalez; and three sisters. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Pedro (Kathy) Garcia, Joe (Lydia) Garcia, Gloria Anderson, Jim (Robin) Garcia, Ruth Rodriguez, and Saul Garcia; her sister, Lupe Hernandez; son-in-law, Bill Whetstone; twenty-four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM, all at Winter Haven Baptist Church. Petra's final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
