Portia Trapp Sheppard
June 23rd, 1925 - October 29th, 2014
Lexington - Graveside services for Portia Trapp Sheppard, 89, will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2014 at Celestial Memorial Gardens, 3111 Delree Street, West Columbia, SC 29170. Pastor Bill Harmon will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4170 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Mrs. Sheppard died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Blythewood, she was a daughter of the late William and Juanita Trapp. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Lucian Sheppard; son, Cecil Sheppard (Janice Delozier) of Ridgeway; daughters, Diana Padgett and Margie Dennis (Mike) both of Lexington; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 brothers; Sam Trapp of Florida, Tommy Trapp (Florence) of Georgia, and Kirby Trapp of Columbia. She was predeceased by her son, Richard Lee Sheppard; sister, Frances Freeman and her husband Blake; brothers, John William, C.W., Ben and Bob Trapp and a great-granddaughter Kayla Padgett. The family would like to thank the nurses of Palmetto Health Hospice, Rebecca King, Kathy Lu and Joy Jones for their devoted service to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, 350 Wattling Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
