Randall Corbin, 1st Sgt., U.S. Army (RET) WEST COLUMBIA: Service for Randall Corbin, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2011, at River Bluff Baptist Church, Cayce, SC, officiated by Rev. Kurt Geib and Pastor Roger Phillips. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to River Bluff Baptist Church, 100 Old State Rd., Cayce, SC 29033. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mr. Corbin went to be with his Lord, Friday, November 4, 2011. Born in Flipen, GA, he was the son of the late George Cranford Corbin and Laura Belle Jones Corbin. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and served during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a paratrooper with 513th Airborne Infantry and was awarded a purple heart and three bronze stars. Mr. Corbin retired as a 1st Sgt. in June of 1967. After retirement he served as a ROTC instructor for 21 years. He was a member of River Bluff Baptist Church where he was a Deacon Emeritus, a Sunday School teacher and was very active in his church. He had a loving church family and a host of friends, especially his ROTC Students he cherished at Airport High. Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Wilson Corbin of West Columbia; son, COL Randall D. Corbin (RET) (Patsy) of Leesville, LA; daughters Kay C. Alford (Raymond) , June C. Terry of Lexington; sisters, Shirley C. Smith of Collins, GA and Doris C. Chafin of Riverdale, GA; brothers-in-law, Ronnie, Larry and Dean Wilson; sisters-in-law, Diane Wilson, Sara Wilson, Linda Wilson and Frankie C. Corbin; nine grandchildren, David, Karrie, Jamie Corbin, Whitney and Katy Alford, special grandchild and caretaker Karla Terry, Brittani Terry, Steven and Scarlett Tindal; seven great grandchildren and one special great grandson, Elijah J. Mavins; also several nieces and nephews. Mr. Corbin was preceded in death by his son, David Lee Corbin; a brother, Merrill J. Corbin and sister, Norma C. Hendrix.
