But it was the life he lived that?s left for us to know. Our vision is always clearer when it?s viewed in hindsight, without the many distractions that hindered our seeing aright. And while he had a sunrise and now a sunset, it was the journey in between that tells his story best. Born August 14, 1941 in Money, Mississippi, he was the fifth of seven children. He accepted the Lord at a young age, and served in his church youth ministry and choir. He graduated from Money Vocational High School and joined the United States Army soon thereafter. There he served his country for twenty years and saw combat during the Vietnam War. He retired at the rank of CW-2 having earned the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal to name a few, along with several Ribbons. Upon retirement, Pastor Jackson made his home in the city of Seaside, California. Pastor Jackson was married to his loving wife Jean Jackson in September 1968 and recently celebrated 43 years of marriage on the 3rd of September. To this union was born one loving and devoted daughter, Teresa Jackson. Pastor Jackson had a dual career as pastor of Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, 1153 Hamilton Avenue here in Seaside, and as a General Contractor, specializing in home renovation and home maintenance. He was licensed and ordained in the ministry in 1984 and began the pastorate in 1988 at Lighthouse Church where he has faithfully served for the past 23 years. His ministerial studies include the International School of Chaplaincy in San Jose, CA, Rhema Christian Center of Golden, MS, and Grace Theological Seminary where he earned his Doctorate of Divinity in June of 1998. Pastor Jackson was a lover of people who walked with an urgency to see the lost saved, the broken mended, the sick and hurting healed, the oppressed and bound set free and all walking in the power and truth of the Gospel as they fulfilled the will of Almighty God. Bishop Jackson was not a joiner of organizations, choosing rather to fully follow only the dictates and leading of His Heavenly Father. During his tenure as pastor of Lighthouse, pastor Jackson under the unction of the Holy Spirit, spearheaded a major building project with only $15,000 dollars in the Church building account, a small congregation and great faith in God. Today the addition, which was completed debt-free is a testimonial of the supernatural supply of our God. Pastor Jackson, who was often referred to as ?God?s walking miracle,? having been resuscitated once and at death?s door many times, recently completed and published his first work, The Life of the Dead: Everyone Included. His prayer was that this would be a tool to help those who had questions about death and to comfort all who read it. Pastor Jackson?s form of relaxation was playing chess, as his mind was always in motion with the intent of overcoming challenges, expanding his abilities and improving on whatever was deficient. When his mind was not racing, he liked to take out his harmonica and play along with his favorite artist, or just as personal Worship of His Savior, the King of Glory. His greatest objective was to lead by example as he sought to worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth. His wife, the love of his life, his daughter Teresa and three granddaughters, Moriah and Anna of Campbell, California and Jenna of San Francisco, California, survives Pastor Jackson. He also leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Zenobia Dean of Chicago. IL., brother Willie Hill of Money, MS., three Sisters-in-Law, Virginia and Geraldine House of Seaside, Helene Stevens of Moreno Valley, CA, two brothers-in-Law, Samuel and Porter House of Chicago, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends to include his loving Congregation. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Bishop Jackson?s journey ended Sunday, September 25th as he reported for duty in what was his final call as he was delivering the morning message at Lighthouse Church. He passed through the gate to his final rest. For? There is an open gate at the end of the road, Through each must go alone. And, there is a light we cannot see, Our Father claims His own? Beyond the gate your loved one finds happiness and rest, And there is comfort in the thought That a loving God knows best.

Mission Memorial Park
For almost 100 years, our cemetery has served the residents of the Monterey Bay Area. Mission Memorial Park opened in 1934 as Mission Memorial Cemetery and for many years was run by the City of Monterey. In 1988, Monterey Peninsula Mortuary opened on the grounds of our beautiful Seaside location. In 2007 we closed our Chapel of Seaside at our Noche Buena location and merged the two to become Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park....
