Richard David Bertrand

Richard "Dick" David Bertrand, 79, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away January 4, 2022 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born February 22, 1942 to George and Evelyn Bertrand in Derry, New Hampshire. Dick went to high school at El Cajon Valley High School and graduated in 1960. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from San Diego State University in 1964, then went on further to earn a PhD degree in chemistry from Iowa State University in 1969. Dick worked as Professor of Chemistry for the University of Michigan-Dearborn for eleven years, then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1982 to work as Professor of Chemistry at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs for nineteen years.He enjoyed photography, reading WWII non-fiction literature and computing.Dick is preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn Bertrand; and one sister, Linda Bertrand. He is survived by his wife, Charla Bertrand of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Michael Bertrand of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister, Kathleen Haimen of El Cajon, California; niece, Lisa Cuerden of El Cajon, California; and nephew, Mark Burrows of San Diego, California.Dick has requested no services.
