Richard H. Braun, Jr., age 88, of North Port, Florida, passed away on December 8, 2011. He was born on May 24, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Richard was with the Greater Latrobe High School in Latrobe, Pennsylvania for 35 years where he was a Physical Education Teacher & Coordinator and coached Track and Cross Country. He moved to North Port 21 years ago and was a member of the Masons and Lutheran Church of Living Waters in Port Charlotte, Florida. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Richard is survived by his wife, Jane of 64 years; two sons, Richard H. (Kathy) Braun, III of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Timothy Jay (Patrice) Braun of Titusville, Pennsylvania; a brother, Ronald (Shirley) Braun of North Port, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his son, John K. Braun in 1962. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Lutheran Church of Living Waters. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lutheran Church of Living Waters, 12475 Chancellor Blvd., Port Charlotte, Florida 33953 and TideWell Hospice Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238. Farley Funeral Home in North Port is handling the arrangements.
