Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Richard Ferguson
November 2nd, 1945 - March 21st, 2024
Richard Ferguson, age 78, of Sarasota, FL passed away on March 21, 2024. Richard was born November 2, 1945 in White Plains, NY to his loving parents Edward William and Adria Virginia Ferguson. He graduated Fox Lane High School in Bedford, New York in 1962. He served in the Air Force for 4 years and later attended Pace College where he met his wife, Gayle Ferguson. Richard was a hard-working husband and father who would do anything to provide for his family and ensure their happiness. He was proud of his hard work in building a small swimming pool company, Brownies Pool Clinic, into a successful business where his customers knew and loved him. He was loved by many with his easy-going, generous, and friendly personality. His many friends will miss him dearly out on the tennis courts and golf courses as he was a fun and competitive player. His intelligence and ingenuity will also be missed as there wasn’t a project he couldn’t tackle. He could fix anything and loved the excitement of coming up with a solution, no matter how crazy some of his grand ideas were. Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gayle and 3 daughters and their families: Virginia (Marc) Forbes, Kelley (Shani) Ferguson, and Jacquelyn (Sam) Hazeltine; as well as 6 grandchildren, Gavin, Rylie, Garner, Madisyn, Georgia, and Griffin. He is also survived by his brother David (Laurie) Ferguson of Sarasota, Florida. Please join us celebrating his life on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Venice Memorial Gardens, 1950 Center Road, Venice, FL 34292.
