Richard J. Lartey

Richard Jake Lartey, 59, of Davenport, passed away on June 10, 2019 at Heart of Florida Hospital. He was born in March 8, 1960 in Kumasi, Ghana, Africa to Hubert Asiedu Titi-Lartey and Christiana Gyandoh. Richard attended Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana. Later on, moving to Ukraine where he studied Emergency Medicine for seven years, and learned Russian. He then made his way to the United States to specialize in Emergency Medicine and was able to work at Celebration Hospital, Orlando Hospital, Winter Haven Hospital, Florida Hospital Ocala, Indian River Hospital, etc. Richard was in the Air Force Reserve for many years until he retired in 2018 with the rank of Major. While in the reserve, he performed multiple roles as a physician and as an officer. He moved to Davenport in 2010 from Orlando, and he was a member of Ridge Assembly of God in Davenport, FL. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and friend. He loved watching movies and traveling. Richard was known by his family as a quiet man, very organize and analytic.   He was preceded in death by his father and he is survived by his mother, Christiana; his wife, Diana; children, Alex Fifi Lartey, Richard Jayden Lartey and Richard Jake Lartey; four brothers; and three sisters. He will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL. Final Resting Place will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, FL.
