Rickey Lee Sanders

Rickey lee Sanders 57, of Lynchburg VA died on Aug. 25, 2023, in St Petersburg FL. Rick was born to Nannie and Dennis Sanders, on Oct.27, 1965, in Lynchburg General Hospital. Rick was born to travel. He loved and enjoyed every minute of it. Rickey was a trucker for many years, also used alot of frequent flyer miles. He was a free spirit and had a sweet spirit, was a loving man who loved God and his family. Rick also enjoyed watching CBN and loved coffee and tea. Rick enjoyed hanging at the local Waffle House. After he retired from the road, a local Waffle House was a familiar feeling of home on the road. He enjoyed the beach. If you met Rick he would talk to almost anyone. He spent most of his life on the road traveling, made friends everywhere he went. Rick was a member of United Methodist church in downtown Bradenton FL. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Nannie and Dennis Sanders and Step dad Chicasay BlueCloud. Rick is survived by his daughter, Nicole Sanders Mertl; grandchildren, Carter, Courtney and Cassia Mertl; sisters,Tamara Sanders-Dutcher, Monique BlueCloud, Destar Anderson, Rolanda Broussard, and brother Scott Sanders; Niece, Kaylin Sanders, (brother daughter) 2 nephews from sister Tamara (Peter 3rd,Chance, and wife Jordan); Sister Monique, 2 nieces and 3 nephews (Sariyah, Deonte Jr., Joshawna, DeAngel, and King); Sister: Rolanda Broussard, He had 6 nephews 3 nieces, LeeOtis, Jaleecia Nathan, My’Ceriana, Michael, Da’Mikael, K’Onn, Khy, Laya; Sister: Destar Anderson 1 nephew, 3 nieces: Jah'nique, Mariah, Nazaria, Josiah. He was loved and will be missed greatly. He loved God and had a relationship with God. Knowing this brings a lot of peace that one day we will see him again in the sweet bye and bye. Until then RIP Rickey. A memorial has been established in his name. Online condolences may be shared on the Tribute Wall. If you would like to send condolences to the family or card saying what Rick meant to you, you can post it on website. Family would love any photos to to be added there as well. Services to be held at United Methodist Church downtown Bradenton FL. 603 11th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205 Friday September 29th @ 2pm Pastor Justin Halas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rick's honor to handuptovictory.org This is an organization that is changing lives with addiction recovery. Jesus is the one that gives them strength to do it.
