Robert "Bob" F. Campbell

Robert (Bob) F. Campbell passed away surround by his family at Pikes Peak Hospice February 21, 2017.Bob was born in Colorado Springs on November 15, 1934 to Robert and Amy (Jordan) Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara Adair, and two grandchildren, Nathan and Amy Bartel.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara (Goddard) Campbell; daughters, Kimberly Sue (Larry) Bartel, and Debra Ann (Mark) Schutte; a son Scott Robert (Christine); grandchildren, Cody and Cierra Campbell, Spencer and Parker Schutte; and two great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Carson Schutte. Also surviving include a sister, Jean Steinmuller and brother-in-law, Irvin Adair; and Cody's fiancee, Jessica; and many nieces and nephews. Bob attended Bristol, North Junior High and graduated from Colorado Springs HIgh School in 1952. Bob and Barb were married June 18, 1955. After working briefly at Martin Drake Power Plant, he served in the US Navy, attached to a Jet Fighter Squadron aboard the USS Shangri-La in the Pacific. Upon discharge, he returned to Martin Drake where he worked 38 years until his retirement as Operations Supervisor in 1990. After retirement, he worked another 20 years driving part time for Hertz and made many long and memorable friendships there. Bob always enjoyed sports and played softball for the Colorado Springs Utilities. He went on to coach Pauline Memorial School in baseball and then YAL Football and Little League Baseball. After retirement, he and Barbara enjoyed traveling al over the US and Canada to their grandchildren's many sporting events. Their trips provided many funny stories, which rivaled Clark Griswold's "Vacation" trips for the rest of the family to laugh and enjoy till this day!Robert, who considered his family to be his pride and joy, along with his longtime friends, will be loved forever and deeply missed. A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held at The Springs Funeral Services - North on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 1:00PM.
