Robert Groves

Obituary Robert B. Groves AKA "handsome," passed away peacefully at home holding hands with his daughter K.C. and wife of 65 years nearby. He was the funniest person most people have ever met. Quick with wordplay as well as one liners. Bob was lover of dogs, a generous tipper, and always kind to those in need. He was raised West Virginia with never quite enough to eat although his mother Flossie did the best she could and proudly "never went on the dole." Bob moved to the Detroit area when he was a teenager graduating from Fordson High school in Dearborn. He worked for many years as a senior sales executive at McCord Corporation where he started a successful Golf League. In 1991 he shot a hole-in-one and golfed well into his 80's. Golf was his favorite hobby and outlet since he was limited in terms of sports because of the loss of his lower leg in a train hopping accident when he was 12. He was excellent provider for his family and kept a meticulous checking account register. We will miss Bob's full, hearty laugh as well as his excellent singing voice and beautiful silver pompadour. He is survived by wife Carol Groves, daughter Katherine KC Groves, son Robert Timothy Groves, niece Sheryl Groves and son-in-law Donald Chavez.
