Robert "Bob" Gerard Malone
January 30th, 1952 - July 30th, 2024
Malone, Robert Gerard (Jan 30, 1952-July 30, 2024) of West St. Paul.
Bob was the third of six born to Richard and Elizabeth (Stevens) Malone. He attended Brady High School, the U of M, and received his JD from William Mitchell College of Law. He became one of the premier criminal defense attorneys in the Twin Cities, enjoying years of success in both federal and state courtrooms. Bob was invited to join the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice (an organization limited to 50 lawyers), and served as President of the Society in 2000. He was honored by the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2015 by being awarded its Profile in Courage Award. Bob captivated people with tales of his legal victories, childhood hooliganism, and adventures abroad, embellished by his full body laugh and twinkling, mischievous, Irish eyes. He loved a good joke, and told them well. If you were a friend of Bob’s, you were treasured. And if you were Irish, even better.
He is survived by his two daughters Caitlin and Laura; Sisters Judy (Benny) Bright and Mary (Craig Gelderman); Brother John (Diane); many nieces and nephews; lifelong best friend Tom Quinlan.
Preceded in death by Parents; Brothers Thomas and Fr. Patrick Malone.
Memorial service Friday, Aug. 23 at Church of the Assumption, 51 7th St W, St Paul. Visitation 9AM, Mass at 10, luncheon to follow. Memorials to the family.
